Officers Save 70-Year-Old Texas Man After Wrong-Way Crash
According to KRISTV, a wrong-way crash on New Year’s Day left a 70-year-old Texas man trapped in his SUV.
Details of the Corpus Christi Wrong-Way Collision
The impact from the crash caused the 70-year-old’s vehicle to overturn and catch fire. Police officers and bystanders flipped the vehicle and removed the man from the fiery wreckage. The Corpus Christie Police Department has since posted a video of the rescue.
The 70-year-old man is expected to make a full recovery.
Officers Blame 28-Year-Old Man for Crash
A 28 year-old-man was travelling the wrong way on Texas State Highway (SH) 358 when he slammed into the 70 year-old Texan. The 28 year-old driver was killed in the crash.
Officers believe the 28-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
While DUI fatalities have decreased during the holidays in recent years, New Year’s Day is still ranked as one of the deadliest holidays for drivers nationwide.
