Suspect Identified in Deadly Corpus Christi Hit-and-Run Crash
Police have identified the man they believe is responsible for a deadly hit-and-run that left one person dead early Monday morning.
Details of the Corpus Christi Hit-and-Run
According to KRIS-TV, the fatal hit-and-run occurred around 2:30 am on Holly Road near Lakeview Drive. Police say the suspect, 26-year-old Geoffrey Bucher, struck a bicyclist, identified as a 60-year-old male, and fled the scene.
At around 3:17 am, Bucher’s passenger, a co-worker of Geoffrey, called police to notify them of the hit-and-run. The passenger said Bucher accidentally hit the victim and refused to stop. At 4:03 am, Bucher’s brother called the police to say that his brother had been involved in a traffic accident.
When police arrived at Bucher’s apartment, they noticed he had red, watery, droopy eyes and that his breath smelled of alcohol. Police noted Bucher’s car had extensive damage to the windshield and the front passenger side. The roof on the passenger side had also caved from the impact.
The crash remains under investigation.
