SUV Driver Detained After Hitting a Bicyclist in Northwest San Antonio
A bicyclist was critically injured Thursday morning after being struck by an SUV that drove onto a sidewalk on San Antonio’s Northwest Side.
Details of the San Antonio Bicycle Accident
KSAT reports the crash occurred near the intersection of Bandera Road and New Guilbeau Road. Police say the SUV was turning from Bandera onto New Guilbeau when the vehicle lost control, spun, and drove on the sidewalk where it hit the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was thrown from his bicycle and fell into a ditch. He was identified as a man suspected to be in his mid-40s.
The bicyclist was rushed to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said the driver of the SUV displayed erratic behavior and was going to be tested for intoxicants.
