A woman from Florida was killed in an accident that happened on US Highway 231.
The Dothan Eagle is reporting that a woman from Tallahassee, Florida was killed in a single-vehicle accident that happened on Tuesday along US Highway 231, which is just south of Dothan, according to police.
A statement from the Alabama State troopers stated that 65-year-old Ray Catherine Pinkney, of Tallahassee, was pronounced dead at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. The statement further revealed that Pinkney was killed when the 2000 Ford Explorer she was a passenger in left the roadway and overturned onto Highway 231 near the 5.5 mile marker, which is only about seven miles south of Dothan.
The statement from the Alabama State Patrol stated that Pinkney was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The driver of the vehicle that crashed was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries sustained in the accident.
At this time, the accident remains under investigation by the Alabama State Patrol.
