Head-On Crash Claims Life on South 183, Driver Critically Injured
According to kxan news, a two-vehicle collision that occurred February 12th, 2024 on South Highway 183 near Pilot Knob claimed one life and left another person critically injured early Monday morning. The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) reported the accident occurred around 2:40 am near the intersection with Planeview Drive.
The impact forced the closure of the highway in both directions at FM 812 for several hours, causing significant traffic disruptions until its reopening around 8 am.
One individual was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. ATCEMS personnel worked swiftly to extricate another person trapped in the wreckage, who was subsequently declared a trauma alert and transported to a local hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
