Search Continues for Drive Who Hit, Killed Good Samaritan in Austin

Austin police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on East Anderson Lane.

Hit-and-Run Driver Flees After Killing Good Samaritan

According to CBS Austin, the fatal crash occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of the 1000 block of East Anderson Lane near Interstate 35.

Police say 26-year-old Welmer Moises Aquino Lopez was driving a white Ford F-150 when he struck and killed Zalibanos Mekuria Sean, 30. Sean had stopped at the scene of a single-vehicle crash and was helping the driver from his vehicle when he was struck by Lopez’s truck.

Sean was declared dead at the scene.

Lopez’s truck became disabled from the crash, and Lopez fled on foot. The driver Sean was helping was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with potentially serious injuries.
