Barry Hocking

Mr. Barry Hocking began doing pro bono family law cases in 2021. He went through an extended mentorship with a very good solo practitioner near Dallas in 2022, and worked for a small firm in Fort Worth during 2023. These were his first significant experiences in dealing with real world clients and live pleadings. He had opportunities to work through several stages of discovery and trial prep with his mentor. Mr. Hocking drafted and successfully argued a No Evidence Motion for Summary Judgment against a common law marriage claim in 2023. 

He has done a fair amount of pro bono work for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP) and also Tarrant County Volunteer Attorney Services (TVAS) from 2021 to 2023 primarily in the area of Family Law.

Though still a relatively new attorney, Mr. Hocking has been able to find opportunities to engage in civil litigation; mostly Family Law, but also some Business disputes, Civil Fraud, Probate, Trust Law, Real Property, and Evictions. He successfully argued a Motion for Summary Judgment against a common law marriage case in 2023 and was given the chance to second chair at a jury trial in a child custody modification case in 2022

Barry is an eternally curious, life-long learner with a very wide array of interests including math & science, history, ancient & modern cultures, music, literature, and other arts. He reads quite a bit and likes to study ancient texts. He also enjoys weightlifting, running, health & fitness, and meeting new people. He is highly motivated, hard working, and thoroughly dedicated to delivering top quality service with compassion, dignity, and respect to all of his clients.
