2 Dead in Freestone County Crash
Two people were killed Wednesday evening when an SUV and a car collided in Freestone County, Texas.
About the Fatal Freestone Collision
KWTX reports that the collision occurred around 6:50 pm when a 2003 Chevrolet Impala collided head-on with a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee about four miles outside of Fairfield.
The Impala, driven by 21-year-old Ian Spence, was traveling westbound on FM 27 when it veered into oncoming traffic and struck the Jeep. Spence and his passenger, Megan Cook, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and a passenger of the Jeep were transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas with serious injuries.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):
- 3,377 people were killed in auto accidents in Texas in 2013 – a 1.05-percent decrease from the 3,413 deaths recorded in 2012.
- 1,883 deaths were attributed to auto accidents that occurred in rural areas of the state, and head-on collisions resulted in 523 deaths.
- An additional 232,041 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2013 with 89,270 people suffering serious injuries.
