2 Dead in Laredo Accident
Authorities are continuing their investigations into a South Laredo car crash that left two women dead Friday morning.
Details of the Fatal Laredo Accident
According to KGNS, the collision occurred at the intersection of Cuatro Vientos and Sierra Vista around 7:30 am.
Police believe a Chrysler traveling on Sierra Vista failed to stop before turning onto Cuatro Vientos and was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado.
The collision resulted in the deaths of Rosalinda Lugo and Cynthia Belman. Reports indicate Belman was five months pregnant. Both were passengers in the Chrysler.
The driver of the Chrysler, Jose Pedro Gallegos, was transported to a San Antonio hospital following the incident.

- According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), 3,377 people were killed in auto accidents in 2013.
- 767 of those deaths were attributed to accidents that occurred at or in relation to an intersection.
- Another 232,041 people were injured in traffic collisions with 89,270 people sustaining serious injuries.
- TxDOT estimates one person was killed in an auto accident every 2 hours and 36 minutes and one person was injured every 2 minutes and 16 seconds.
