SUV Crashes into House, Killing 66-Year-Old Woman Inside

According to News4Jax, an elderly woman was struck and killed by a motorist while sitting inside her home in Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday night.

About the Fatal Pedestrian Incident

The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of West 31st and Pearce Streets at about 10 p.m. local time. Officials say a man in a Lincoln Navigator SUV lost control of the vehicle, crashed off the road and into a house. Inside the home, a woman was hit by the SUV as it continued through the house and into the backyard.

Sarah Joshua, 66, was on her couch watching TV when she was struck, reports News4Jax. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Joshua’s nephew was in another section of the home and was uninjured in the incident. Officials say the Lincoln Navigator was reported stolen on Saturday. Following the crash, the driver jumped from the vehicle and ran off.

According to News4Jax, the SUV was involved in a hit-and-run crash minutes before wrecking into the house and striking the pedestrian inside. Police are still searching for more information regarding the traffic crash and the identity of the driver.
