Colorado Construction Worker Dies at Kelly Walsh High School
A Colorado worker died after following a tragic accident at Kelly Walsh High School in Natrona County.
About the Fatal Accident
According to K2 Radio, 29-year-old Juan C Avalos, died Thursday after being struck by a metal gate while driving a four-wheel Gator.
The man was taken immediately to the hospital, but died soon after arriving.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
On the Job Accident Statistics
The following information was provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA):
- 4,821 workers were killed on the job in 2014, averaging more than 13 deaths each day.
- 4,388 of those deaths occurred in private industry with 899 being linked to construction-related incidents.
- Among the leading causes of death for workers in 2015 were:
- Falls
- Electrocutions
- Struck by Object
- Caught-in/between
