Details about the Fatal Motorcycle Accident

The Statesville Record and Landmark is reporting that a man from Rowan County was the motorcycle driver who was killed in a multiple vehicle accident that happened on Saturday afternoon along Interstate 40 near Old Mountain Road, according to authorities.

21-year-ol David Allen Laws, of Rowan County, was driving the motorcycle with a passenger who was under 18-years-old when he was attempting to merge onto Interstate 40 at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

When Laws was merging into the right lane, the motorcycle clipped the rear end of a vehicle and shot to the left lane and was hit by another vehicle, which caused Laws and the passenger to be thrown off the motorcycle.

The specific point of impact on the motorcycle is unclear at this time.

The passenger on the motorcycle was taken to the North Carolina Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston –Salem. At this time, no charges have been filed in the accident.
