Missouri City Crash Kills 1, Injures 4
A young woman is dead and four other people are injured following a car crash that occurred in Missouri City, Texas Saturday.
About the Fatal Missouri City Crash
According to KHOU, the deadly crash occurred around 2:45 am at the intersection of Highway 6 and Vicksburg Boulevard.
Cayla Simple, 19, was out with her college roommate and two friends when her Honda Civic was t-boned by a GMC Yukon that blew through a red light. Simple was killed in the collision. Her three passengers were transported to the hospital.
The driver of the Yukon was also injured in the collision. He has been hospitalized and his blood is being tested to determine if he was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):
- 3,531 people were killed in car crashes in Texas in 2015, marking little change from the 3,536 deaths reported in 2014.
- 807 people were killed in crashes that occurred at or in relation to intersections in 2015.
- 960 of the traffic fatalities recorded in 2015 were attributed to crashes where at least one driver was intoxicated. The accounts for 27% of all Texas traffic fatalities.
- An additional 246,335 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2015.
