Officers Respond, Apply Tourniquet Following Schertz 18-Wheeler Crash
Schertz officers are being praised for their quick thinking after applying a tourniquet to the arm of a man who was bleeding heavily after being involved in an 18-wheeler accident in Schertz, Texas.
Details of the Schertz Truck Accident
According to News 4 San Antonio, the truck accident occurred in Schertz, Texas, just northeast of San Antonio, at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Initial reports failed to provide details of how the crash may have occurred but did state that police responded to the scene of the accident in front of the Amazon Fulfillment Center on Schertz Parkway near Interstate 35 South to find the driver of the car bleeding heavily from a cut on his arm.
While waiting for paramedics, the officers attempted to restrict blood loss by applying a tourniquet. The victim was then transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
