One person is dead and another suffered serious injuries as a result of an 18-wheeler accident in Moore County on Saturday.
According to KAMR, the crash occurred Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 87, about four miles south of Dumas.
Police say a man was traveling southbound on the highway in a 2003 Freightliner around 12:30 pm when he changed lanes to pass another 18-wheeler. In the process of switching lanes, the driver overcorrected, traveled across the roadway, struck a guardrail then when back over the roadway and struck the opposite guardrail before crashing into a ravine.
The trailer the Freightliner was hauling was separated from the truck and overturned in the left lane of the highway.
The passenger of the truck, Ennie Eisenhauer, 39, of Bryan, Texas was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo where she later died. The driver, 40, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing their seatbelts. The accident remains under investigation.
