Pedestrian Slain by Semi-truck while Crossing Street
According to the Berkeley Patch, a female pedestrian sustained fatal injuries in an accident involving an 18-wheeler on Monday morning in Emeryville, California.
Details of the Fatal Pedestrian Accident
The accident occurred at the intersection of Powell Street and Christie Avenue at around 9:24 a.m. local time. The pedestrian crossed Powell Street in a crosswalk as a semi-truck driver took a right turn onto Powell.
The Berkeley Patch reports that the pedestrian was struck by the front of the truck, knocked down, and pulled underneath. The woman received treatment at Highland Hospital in Oakland but died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The truck driver is cooperating with the investigation, according to the Berkeley Patch.
