A rollaway risk has caused over 91,000 Jeep Cherokees to be recalled by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
About the Rollaway Jeep Cherokee Recall
This issue can cause vehicles to potentially move when stationary or parked and can also lead to a lack of control while driving.
Fiat has revealed that an accident has occurred due to this safety hazard, but no one was significantly injured.
While a faulty gearshift design was previously issued as the cause for 266 rollaway crashes among 2012-14 Dodge Chargers, Chrysler 300s, and 2014-15 Jeep Grand Cherokees, the issue at hand has not been connected to this.
Mailed letters of the recall notice will soon reach consumers within the upcoming month.
2014-17 Cherokees with two-speed power transfer units are the exact vehicles affected in the recall. 67,248 cars in the United States were affected while 13,659 in Canada and 716 in Mexico were affected as well.
Fiat is undergoing finding a solution to repair this error with the proposal of a transmission software fix. Also, 27,634 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan from 2017-20 were recalled by Fiat for possible fire hazards.
