Tragedy on FM 969 in Austin, Tx: Hit-and-Run Claims Pedestrian’s Life

Tragedy struck eastern Travis County early Wednesday morning, February 7th, 2024, as a hit-and-run crash claimed the life of an unidentified male pedestrian. According to KXAN News, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the scene near the 900 block of FM 969, approximately two miles east of U.S. Highway 183, around 3:30 am.

Details remain scarce, but authorities confirmed the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The impact prompted the closure of FM 969 for several hours, causing disruption to morning commuters. Fortunately, all lanes were reopened by 6:30 am.

The Texas DPS is actively investigating the incident. However, information regarding the suspect or the vehicle involved is currently unavailable.
