Head-On Crash in Central Texas Leaves Teen Dead

A head-on collision between an 18-wheeler and an SUV resulted in the death of a teen early Saturday. Sergeant John Roberts of the Department of Public Safety identified the deceased teen as 18 year-old Caleb Ryan Bonde of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Details of the Fatal Accident

According to KWTX, Bonde was driving a Ford Excursion heading south on US 281 just north of Lampasas when his SUV inexplicably drifted into the northbound lane of traffic and collided head-on with an 18-wheeler.

Bonde was pronounced dead at the scene by Lampasas County J.P. Camron Brister.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Edward John Treloar, 63, survived the collision with no injuries. DPS has begun an investigation on the crash.
