Former Las Vegas Raider Henry Ruggs Arrested for Fatal DUI Crash

Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs was arrested Tuesday following a fatal DUI crash that claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman.

Ruggs Was Driving 156 MPH in the Moments Leading Up to the Crash

Prosecutors say that Ruggs was driving a Chevrolet Corvette at a speed of 156 mph just seconds before colliding with a Toyota RAV4, killing the driver.

FOX News reports Ruggs, 22, has since been charged with felony DUI resulting in death and felony reckless driving.

Police added that Ruggs’s speed dropped to 127 mph when his Corvette’s airbags deployed. The RAV4 he rear-ended was engulfed in flames, trapping the driver inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ruggs was found to have a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit. Police also found a loaded gun in Ruggs’s car

Ruggs is being held on a $150,000 bail. The judge presiding over the Ruggs’ bail hearing commented that he “cannot recall a speed that high in my career on the bench.”
