The crash took place on Interstate 35 southbound near Southwest Military Drive, according to KSAT.
Police said the sedan driver was travelling the wrong way down the main lanes on Interstate 35 southbound when he crashed head-on into a minivan just before 11:30 p.m. The minivan was carrying a family of five, including a 47-year-old woman who suffered a broken leg and a 3-year-old who suffered minor injuries. According to authorities, both the woman and the 3-year-old were taken to University Hospital.
The unidentified sedan driver was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. He now faces an intoxication assault charge, police said.
