18-Wheeler Slams into Accident Scene in Texas

Bridget Dolan5 months ago

A dramatic video partially captured a multi-vehicle pileup in Texas, including footage of an 18-wheeler slamming  into the scene of the accident.

Details of the Texas Pile-Up

What started as a two-car crash on Highway 84 in Lubbock County worsened when an eastbound semi-truck jackknifed and slid into the scene as police investigated. This caused several more vehicles to then crash, due to a dense fog advisory which was present at the time of the accident.

A video, shot by KCBD photographer Caleb Holder, shows yet another 18-wheeler, which jackknifed to avoid a red SUV changing lanes, swerve off the road and strike several vehicles in its path.

Police had to scramble to avoid being hit in the commotion, but one Texas state trooper was hit and another was victim was pinned inside their truck. Both victims were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive.

In total, there were five crashes involving four smaller vehicles and four tractor-trailers. The fog caused about a quarter mile or less of visibility. Drivers were advised to slow down in these conditions to avoid accidents.
