Car Recalls Issued for June 11-18
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has recently issued several important vehicle recalls.
Chevrolet/GM Indicator Light and Hood Latch Recalls
General Motors is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet models for malfunctioning indicator lights. This malfunction fails to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. The following models are affected:
- Chevrolet 4500HD
- Chevrolet 5500HD
- Chevrolet 6500HD Medium Duty trucks
General Motors LLC is also recalling certain other vehicles for hood latch striker tires that may not have been installed correctly and can fracture. The units affected total 574. The affected models are:
- 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500
- 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500
Chrysler Fire Recall
Chrysler is recalling certain 2017-2020 Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. The 12-volt isolator post located behind the driver’s seat may develop high resistance, causing it to overheat and possibly start a fire with the vehicle on or off.
Ford Door Latch Recall
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain models that have been previously recalled and repaired poorly. A component within the door latches may break, making the doors difficult to latch securely. Of the following models, 2,147,323 units are affected:
- 2011-2014 Fiesta
- 2013-2014 Fusion
- 2015 Mustang
- 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max
- 2012-2015 Focus
- 2014-2016 Transit Connect
- 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ
- 2015 MKC vehicles
Ford is also recalling certain 2014-2017 F-150 pickup trucks with 3.5L Ecoboost engines for cylinders that may leak break fluid into the brake booster.
Honda Seat Belt Recall
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain vehicles for a seat belt webbing sensor lock mechanism that may not lock as intended. A total of 128 units are affected in the following models:
- 2019 Clarity Fuel Cell
- Clarity Electric
- Clarity Plug-in Hybrid vehicles
Jeep Transmission Recall
Chrysler is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles for a malfunction affecting the power transfer between the front wheels and the transmission. This issue results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the park function while stationary.
Land Rover Door Latch Recall
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2016 Land Rover Range and Range Rover Sport vehicles for a previous repair that might not have been completed properly. A spring in the Keyless Vehicle Latching System may become stuck and cause the left door to remain unlatched when the door is closed. A total of 785 units are affected.
Mercedes-Benz Recalls
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2019 Metris vans with gasoline engines and automatic transmissions. The driveshaft may not be attached to the intermediate bearing correctly and cause excessive wear and vibrations to the driveshaft joint. Only 12 units are affected.
They are also recalling certain 2020 GLE450, GLE450, and GLS580 vehicles for rear shock absorbers that may leak and fail prematurely.
Last, Mercedes-Benz is also recalling 11,013 units of certain 2019 Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Spinter vans for wiring harnesses that could become jammed and damaged in the swivel seat frames and certain models with weak seatback latches. The vehicles with weak latches include the following models:
- 2020 E450
- AMG E63S
- GLC300
- AMG GLC43
- AMG GLC63
- AMG GT53
- AMG GT63
