The impact of a speeding SUV sent another vehicle sailing across two lanes of interstate in San Antonio, Texas, causing severe injuries.
The crash took place at the intersection of Westshire Drive and the northbound frontage road of Loop 410 at 10 p.m. on Saturday. According to reports, an SUV driver had been speeding when he crashed into another car.
The force of the impact caused the SUV to lift off the ground and sail across the northbound and southbound lanes of the interstate before landing on the southbound frontage road of Loop 410. Police said the SUV driver had only minor injuries despite having been ejected from the vehicle. His passenger, however, required the Jaws of Life to be removed. Both the driver and passenger of the car that was struck are in critical condition at University Hospital.
The southbound and northbound lanes of Loop 410 closed after the crash, but they have since reopened.
Investigators are searching for the cause of the crash.
