3 Dead in Wisconsin Wrong-Way Collision

Three people are dead following a fiery head-on collision in Dunn County, Wisconsin.

Details of the Fatal Dunn County Crash

According to the Star Tribune, the fatal crash occurred on Interstate 94 around 5:44 pm Thursday.

Police say a wrong-way driver slammed into another vehicle, causing the second vehicle to catch fire and leaving its three occupants dead.

The wrong-way driver was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

The names of those involved have not been released, and the crash remains under investigation.

  • 35,092 people were killed in traffic crashes in the U.S. in 2015. This marked a 7.2-percent increase over the 32,744 deaths recorded in 2014 – the largest percentage increase recorded since 1966.
  • Of those killed in traffic accidents in 2015:
    • 22,441 were occupants of passenger vehicles
    • 5,376 were pedestrians
    • 4,976 were motorcyclists (operators and passengers)
    • 818 were pedalcyclists
    • 667 were occupants of large trucks
    • 227 were listed as other or as unknown
  • An additional 2,443,000 people were injured in traffic accidents in 2015.
