A car crash that occurred in South Texas on Sunday killed a 25-year-old Robstown man, who was a survivor of a mass shooting that occurred during a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida last month.
Details of the South Texas Accident
According to Sgt. Nathan Brandley, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Ryen Aleman died in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday.
Aleman was driving west on Highway 44 and lost control of his 2008 Nissan Altima near the Violet Road exit, at about 3:45 a.m., roughly three miles west of Corpus Christi.
“For unknown reasons the driver veered off the right of side of the roadway and overturned multiple times, striking the railroad tracks,” Brandley said. “The driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected upon impact onto the railroad tracks.”
Aleman died at the scene. DPS Troopers will begin an investigation for the crash, said Brandley.
Grieving friends and family of Aleman have been posting heartfelt messages and condolences on Facebook. Some friends commented on a photo he posted the night before that read “RIP” and “I can’t believe (you’re) gone.”
Monica Rivera, Aleman’s mother, has started a GoFundMe account for funeral expenses.
She writes on the page, “He was a survivor of the Jacksonville shooting at the Madden tournament and we were beyond blessed that he was okay and still here with us, but not even a month later, our Lord decided to call him home. He was loved by his family and his friends, the happiest, funny, and most easy person to get along with … We are hoping to raise money to give him a proper burial that he deserves.
