Road Rage Accidents in Bexar County
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aggressive driving and road rage are serious problems on the nation’s roadways. The NHTSA defines aggressive driving as “an individual committing a combination of moving traffic offenses so as to endanger other persons or property.”
The NHTSA encourages individual counties to develop programs to watch for and prevent aggressive driving. Bexar County (which encompasses San Antonio, Texas) has implemented one such program in an attempt to curb road rage, which has become increasing prevalent in the area since 2007.

- From 2007 to 2011, road rage was a contributing factor in 680 Bexar County traffic accidents.
- 280 people were injured and two were killed in traffic accidents involving road rage during this time.
- At least six others died in road-rage altercations in which no crash occurred.
- Bexar County’s road rage incidents nearly doubled those in Harris County (Houston area) and Dallas County last year.
