According to The Times-Picayune, a motorcyclist was fatally injured after being hit by a car driven by a distracted driver in Marrero, Louisiana, on Tuesday morning.

Details of the Deadly Motorcycle Crash

Brent Badeaux, 28, was riding his motorcycle north on Barataria Boulevard just before noon when the accident happened. At the intersection of Promenade Boulevard, the motorcyclist was struck by a vehicle turning left at the intersection.

The Times-Picayune reports that the motorcyclist crashed into the side of the vehicle and was ejected from his motorcycle. Badeaux was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 28-year-old Jessica Martin, was arrested and charged with negligent homicide, failure to yield, and having no license plate.

Officials believe driver distraction was a factor in the fatal motorcycle wreck. The Times-Picayune reports that speed and impairment do not appear to have played a role, but the crash investigation is ongoing.
