Kia Announces Massive Recall on 2014-2016 Soul Models

Kia Motors has announced a recall of more than 260,000 of their Soul vehicles. Reports show that the steering pinion gear adhesive may fail, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

About the Kia Soul Recall

According a report by CNBC, the steering parts may become separated because the adhesive is not strong enough. In the event of separation, the driver has zero control over the car’s steering.

The recall affects over 260,000 2014-2016 year model Souls in the U.S. alone.

Kia dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear plug if necessary. Dealers will also install an additional bolt for reinforcement.

Kia’s Response to Reported Issues

  • The recall comes after several warranty reports received by Kia.
  • There have been at least 5 reports of this issue, but no reports of injuries are associated withe the defect.
  • The recall is expected to begin December 22, 2015.
