Man Charged in Tragic Travis County Motorcycle Accident

Authorities in Travis County have arrested a suspected drunk driver following a fatal motorcycle accident that resulted in one man’s death and a pregnant woman losing her baby.

Details of the Fatal Travis County Motorcycle Accident

According to KXAN, the fatal accident in Austin occurred around 4:15 pm in the 3500 block of South FM 973 near FM 969 when a Ford F150 struck a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle.

Police say the pickup was traveling northbound on FM 973 when it veered into the southbound lane, striking the motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle, 28-year-old Raul Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities later confirmed that the woman was pregnant and that the baby did not survive the crash.

The driver of the pickup, 41-year-old Cesar Corona-Quiterio, was arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
