According to CBS Boston, a man on a motorcycle is dead after striking two people crossing the road and then being hit by a car in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Police Searching for Motorist who Fled Scene

Police say William Bickford, 64, started the deadly chain reaction of crashes when he struck two people who were in a crosswalk on Route 114. After hitting the two pedestrians, Bickford lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected onto the road, according to CBS Boston.

It was then that a Mercedes Benz, according to police, struck and killed Bickford before fleeing the scene of the accident.

The driver of the car may not have known that he struck someone in the road, reports the Boston Globe. Police are currently seeking out the driver of the car.

The accident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. local time on Thursday. The pedestrians, a man and woman in their 20s, were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, reports CBS Boston.
