Police say William Sigman, 43, died in the fatal four-car crash on his way to work at Boeing. Sigman’s wife, also involved in the crash, drove in a car ahead of him. She did not receive injuries in the wreck.
Justen Wilkes, 21, caused the fatal crash in a pickup truck he stole around 5:00 a.m. Thursday. WCIV reports that Wilkes broke into the home of Eddie Taylor before taking the truck, as Taylor’s surveillance system caught Wilkes in the act.
Wilkes crashed over a concrete median and collided head-on with Sigman’s SUV.
A third person involved in the wreck sustained injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. Police say Wilkes is facing charges of burglary, felony DUI resulting in death, leaving the scene of a collision resulting in death, and reckless homicide. WCIV reports that additional charges are pending and outside agencies may have charges of their own to file.
Wilkes was charged earlier this month for driving under the influence, but he posted bail.
