Recent Amusement Park Accidents and Injuries
Amusement parks may provide the promise of fun for the whole family, but certain park rides and attractions can also be quite dangerous. Most injuries that occur in amusement parks are minor (as in last week’s New Jersey water slide accident), but the few serious accidents can be life-altering (like the fatal Canadian roller coaster accident in early July).
New Jersey Water Slide Accident
On July 25, 2012, a New Jersey amusement park accident sent five people to the hospital. The accident occurred on the Gauley ride (a water ride) at Vernon, New Jersey’s Mountain Creek amusement park when a number of inner tubes got stuck in a tunnel. Five park-goers became stuck in the slide and suffered minor injuries.
Montreal Roller Coaster Accident
On July 6, 2012, a 67-year-old Canadian man was hit by a roller coaster at Montreal’s La Ronde amusement park and died instantly. Several park employees and park-goers were treated for shock following the incident. The man was an employee of the amusement park and had been doing repairs when he was killed.
