Airbag Recall Placed on Several 2016 GM Vehicles
About the Chevrolet Airbag Recall
According to Motor Trend, General Motors has temporarily placed a stop-sale order and recall on their 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles due to possible airbag defects.
A total of 1,579 U.S vehicles made in 2016 are affected. Dealers will replace the front airbags of affected vehicles.
General Motors Tom Wilkinson expressed that the driver frontal airbag might not work during some high speed crashes.
Airbag Recalls Prevalent in 2016
Airbags recalls have dominated the press in 2015 and 2016 as automakers work to recall millions of vehicles equipped with Takata-brand airbags.
In those recalls, it was noted that the airbags can deploy with excess force, causing the airbag inflators to rupture and send metal shrapnel into vehicle cabins.
So far, 10 deaths and more than 100 injuries have been linked to defective Takata airbags.
