Laura Garcia Smothers
Ms. Laura Garcia Smothers is a native to San Antonio, born and raised in the River City.
Ms. Smothers holds a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law and a Bachelor of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. While attending St. Mary’s, Ms. Smothers received the Pro Bono Certificate for her work with the Center for Legal and Social Justice where she served as a student attorney working on behalf of San Antonio indigents involved in family law matters.
Before joining Thomas J. Henry, Ms. Smothers practiced family, criminal, juvenile law, and civil litigation. She has also volunteered with various nonprofits that serve children in foster care, such as being a CASA advocate and a Pearls Court mentor for girls in the foster care system along with volunteering at her church. Ms. Smothers has a strong desire to help others and to use her advocacy skills and passion to see that justice is served.
In her spare time, Ms. Smothers enjoys going on road trips with her husband and two young daughters creating moments with her family. She loves exploring small Texas towns and taking on new challenges and adventures.
