Joseph Garza

Attorney at Thomas J. Henry Law's San Antonio Office

Mr. Joseph Garza completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence at the St. Mary’s University School of Law and also holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s University. During law school, Mr. Garza was a quarter-finalist in the Linda and Dave Schlueter 2015 First-Year Moot Court Competition and received the St. Mary’s University School of Law Pro Bono and Public Service Award. He also volunteered with the St. Mary’s University School of Law Identification Recovery Program.

Prior to seeking his law degree, Mr. Garza was a U.S and Texas History teacher with the San Antonio Independent School of District. Mr. Garza’s interest in history and political science also served as an influence in Mr. Garza’s choice to pursue a career as an attorney, citing inspiration from reading about the U.S. presidents as a child and seeing that most of them were attorneys prior to pursuing their careers in U.S. government.

While completing his legal degree, Mr. Garza interned with Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid and clerked with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas and a San Antonio-based personal injury firm. During this time, Mr. Garza gained valuable experience conducting legal research into a variety of legal matters as well as drafting legal memoranda, including discovery, letters of protection and representation, and petitions. After acquiring his state licensure, Mr. Garza continued his work in personal injury matters, now as an associate attorney in San Antonio. He has attended court hearings, negotiated settlements, drafted demand letters, and managed a high-volume pre-litigation and litigation caseload.

Joining Thomas J. Henry Law in 2021, Mr. Garza currently represents injured clients involved in car accidents, truck accidents, premises liability accidents, and workplace accidents. Beyond his work as an attorney, Mr. Garza is a former Peace Corps volunteer who served in Ukraine. When not in the office, Mr. Garza enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and twin daughters.
